Abstract

|
Fractures of the lumbar spine are relatively uncommon except in the thoracolumbar region. Burst fractures of the fifth lumbar vertebra are extremely rare. Burst fractures were almost as frequently misdiagnosed as wedge compression fractures
using
plain
radiographs. Proper evaluation of this injury requires plain radiographs of good quality, careful sequential neurological examinations, CT scanning, and MRI to delineate the degree of spinal canal foraminal compromise. We experienced a case of
burst
fracture of the fifth lumbar vertebra treated successfully by CD instrument with bone graft. So, we report it with brief review of the literatures.
